The Hookup Plan (Show Review)

I had seen this around social media but I hadn’t thought too much of it until I saw Kat gushing about it on her blog. I decided I should watch it, and boy was it worth watching. I finished all eight episodes one after the other. It was beautiful.

The basic premise is that Elsa’s friends are worried about her because she is still obsessed with her ex, despite the fact that he’s now in a relationship. He also cheated on her but that seems to be out of Elsa’s focus. In hopes of helping Elsa, her two best friends pay a male escort to stage a relationship with Elsa and eventually hookup with her, as the name ensues.

This show is wonderful and I highly recommend it. Everything is translated in the subtitles, I didn’t find it difficult to keep up with the story. The various direction the characters took was enticing. Just about everyone had something to hide from someone. The plot wasn’t overly complicated, but that doesn’t mean the show wasn’t full of surprises.

The characters were wonderful. I connected to Elsa’s quirky, often cringy, personality right away. Though, if I’m being honest, I’d probably be most like Charlotte. She’s got so many wonderful ideas but a lot of commitment issues. She’s also adulting her way, which may not always be right, but it’s still her way.

And can we just talk about that ending. If you know, you know. I personally had a love/hate relationship with it. I really hope there’s a Season Two coming.
