I went to see The Upside with my mom a couple weeks ago and we had a great time. This isn’t going to be a full review, just a few of my thoughts.
I felt a little iffy about going to see The Upside, but my brother mentioned that this was one of Kevin Hart’s first really serious roles. I think he and Bryan Cranston did a great job portraying these roles. Just because they were playing serious roles, doesn’t mean there weren’t a bunch of good laughs thrown in.
The movie is based on a true story. It’s about a paraplegic man (played by Bryan Cranston) and the man he hires as his home aide (Kevin Hart). It’s a pretty heartfelt story that follows that emotional roller coaster formula. I laughed, I cried, and I had a great night out.
After doing a little research, I found out that the movie is actually pretty close to the real story. Turns out The Upside is basically just the American version of The Intouchables, a 2011 film about the pair.
If you’re looking for something that you can watch with your parents, I’d definitely recommend The Upside. It’s heartfelt, funny, and leaves you feeling content.
