Down the TBR Hole #1

Comments 6 Standard

Down the TBR Hole is a pretty regular thing for many book bloggers. I saw it on both Ivana’s blog and Fadwa’s blog this past week and I’ve been seeing others post about it before, so I decided to finally try it out.

The Rules

  •  1. Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
  •  2. Order on ascending date added.
  •  3. Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books.
  •  4. Read the synopsis of the books.
  •  5. Time to Decide: keep it or should it go

My First Five:

I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore

I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore

This was one of the first books I ever added to my TBR. That was probably five or six years ago. If I haven’t gotten to it now, despite seeing it at the library a few times, I don’t think I’ll be getting to it at all. I’m also not into science fiction anymore.

Verdict: Let it go

Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen

I picked up a copy of Water for Elephants at a thrift store a few months back. I started it, but I was in a reading slump at the time so I only read a couple pages. I want to give it another chance.

Verdict: Keep

The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd

This book is a classic and I never got around to reading it but it gives me The Help vibes.

Verdict: Keep

Safe House by Chris Ewan

I watched parts of the movie and I was super confused. Also, this genre just doesn’t interest me anymore.

Verdict: Let it go

Spirit & Life: Essays on Interpreting the Bible in Ordinary Time by Scott Hahn

Spirit & Life: Essays on Interpreting the Bible in Ordinary Time by Scott Hahn

I added this to my TBR back when I was trying to read more Biblical interpretations. I realize now that books like that don’t work for me, I prefer daily devotionals which I read through my Bible app. I always felt guilty whenever I thought about deleting this but now I’m realizing that it’s just not something I could see myself picking up.

Verdict: Let it go

Welp, that’s all folks for my first Down the TBR Hole. I let go of three books and kept two.

Have you read any of these books?

Do you participate in Down the TBR Hole?

  3. Water for Elephants is the only on of these five books that I’ve read. I like Sara Gruen’s books. I desperately need to purge my TBR list, but I haven’t done it yet.

    • I’ve been seeing this for so long and with my TBR growing so much, I realized that a lot of the things there were from years ago. It feels pretty refreshing to let these things go. You should definitely give it a try 🙂
