Let’s Catch Up (#12)

Comments 8 Standard

Hey y’all, this week has been quite the week for reading. The Reading Rush has taken up all my time, and for good reason. It’s been really fun, but I’m glad that it’s coming to an end so I can get back to watching Netflix without feeling guilty for not reading.

Life Update

Not much has happened in my actual life. I did get some great news this week and that definitely gave me a major mood boost. I’ve low key been slacking in my online class but, technically, I didn’t have any homework this week so I think I’m fine.

Blogging Life

The Reading Rush has been so much fun. I actually ended up finishing 7 books (and all the challenges) in 5 days. It’s the best I’ve ever done and I’m so thankful for that. I’ve also been participating in the Bookstagram challenges, so be sure to check that out here:

Since I knew I’d be busy reading and not blogging, I made sure to prepare my reviews the week before. It was a perfect time to catch up on reviews for books I’d read last month. Then I saw on Twitter that the Book Blogger Awards Nominations were due this week so Thursday night and Friday morning were a little hectic for me as I hurried to get it out in time.

All this to say, here’s this week’s posts:

Isaiah Dunn is my Hero Book Review ~ Rae's Reads and Reviews

I got an ARC of Isaiah Dunn is my Hero by Kelly J. Baptist through Netgalley. I really enjoyed this story and it makes me so happy to see a Black boy in a cape on a book cover.

On the Come Up Book Review ~ Rae's Reads and Reviews

It took me forever to get around to it, but I finally read On the Come Up by Angie Thomas. Y’all, I don’t think you understand just how much I love Bri. She’s such a great main character.

Opposite of Always Book Review ~ Rae's Reads and Reviews

If you follow me on Twitter, you’ve already heard me gush about Opposite of Always by Justin A. Reynolds more times than one. Jack and Kate are my favorite couple by far.

Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine Book Review ~ Rae's Reads and Reviews

I decided to post a review for Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman. It’s a super short review so check it out if you have a minute.

Book Blogger Awards Nominations ~ Rae's Reads and Reviews

Like I said before, I was scrambling to get this out on time. Thankfully it worked out and my nominations are up. Since I’ve recommended some lovely bloggers there, I won’t have a “Book Bloggers to Check Out” section today.

Booktubers to Check Out

I haven’t been watching much Booktube this week but I did catch up on a few videos yesterday. Either way, I’m really loving Booktube and all these amazing creators. I’m only recommending two today because I’m feeling kind of lazy, but definitely check these channels out!

I really like the Little Wolf channel. Her style is so cute and her editing is on point.

Chanelle is so funny! I caught up on her Reading Rush vlogs last night and I was practically on the floor laughing.

Welp, that’s all for today. It’s been nice catching up and I hope to see you again soon!

How was your week?

Did you participate in The Reading Rush?

What are you looking forward to for August?

Let me know in the comments below, let’s chat!

  2. You did amazing in The Reading Rush! I didn’t take part, but I’m so impressed by everyone who did. I love reading (obviously, haha) but I’m not sure I could get through many of the challenges in the time given.

On The Come Up is so so good ❀
