It took me a whole year but I finally read On the Come Up! *throws confetti* I know I’m late to the party but who shows up on time?

I’ve mentioned before that I was going through a bit of a reading slump before remembering that audiobooks existed. My library does a fairly good job of getting audiobooks onto the CloudLibrary app and On the Come Up has been in my list of saved books for a while now. Every time I think about starting it, something comes up to distract me. Thankfully this time around, I actually started it.

Omar Holmons debut collection of poems! I’ve been following Omar’s spoken word since high school. I feel like I say that with every poet but honestly it’s the truth. This collection was so refreshing. The bits of humor in the hard parts reminded me that that’s how life goes.
