Hey Lovebugs, I know it’s been a while since my last post, but I certainly haven’t forgotten about you. If you haven’t heard it before, you’re going to hear it now. I’ve added English as my second major, which is honestly super fitting for me but… also super stressful.
So you may have noticed I haven’t had any recent book reviews up, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been reading. Trust me, I’ve been reading.
My African American Lit class has us reading 20 to 30 pages out of our textbook every week. I just finished reading three books for my Intro to Lit class and we’re currently working on our fourth. This semester is definitely not what I’m used to.
It feels so weird being away for so long, so here’s some of what I’ve been reading these past few months:
Intro to Lit
[Insert] Boy by Danez Smith
Kindred by Octavia Butler
Beloved by Toni Morrison
And coming up:
Fun House by Alison Bechdel
African American Lit
The Norton Anthology of African American Literature
Volumes 1 and 2
We’ve read several essays, short stories, and plays from this anthology. It has been quite the wild ride.
Sula by Toni Morrison
Platitudes by Trey Ellis
That’s all in terms of what I’ve been reading for my classes. I tried fitting in pleasure reading, but it’s been tough between classes and work. I’m looking forward to winter break to see what comes out of that.
How was your week?
What are you currently reading?
Are you looking forward to Thanksgiving?
If you’ve been perusing my blog these last couple days, you may have noticed that’s something’s different. Very different.
So, I was doing these weekly wrap-ups at the beginning of the year but I started to fall off some time last month. I think I’ll try revisiting these, let me know your thoughts in the comments.
I was on Spring Break this week, which is one of the main reasons I got so much done. I posted nearly every day, on Friday I posted twice which is definitely uncommon for me.
So, let’s see this week’s new additions, links are provided below.
February is the shortest month of the year and I really felt that. This month completely flew by. My Two for Tuesday and Grownish Recaps + Discussions got a lot of love this month. Thank you for the support and comments, I love seeing what you have to say.
Now, let’s see how I did on my goals.
As you may know, I made a Goals of 2019 post earlier this year. I had two blogging goals and two reading goals. I’m going to try breaking down these goals by month to help keep me on track.
Reading Goal: Finish 2 Books
So last month, I read The Poet X and Dear Martin. I finished them both before school started and I loved them. Since school has started up again, I haven’t had as much time to focus on a single book. I keep starting one and then stopping, then picking up a completely different book.
All this to say, I’m hoping to finish at least two books this month.
The main reason I’ve been able to keep posting while in school is because of the amazingness that is the scheduling tool. I’ve had at least six posts scheduled at any given time but lately, I’ve been too busy to create posts. I’m hoping to keep my page fresh with new posts this month.
I also want to keep up with the Two for Tuesday tag. Make sure to join if you’re interested.
Bookstagram Goal: Post 3X a Week
I’ve been slacking with my bookstagram for the past week or so. Truth be told, I need to take more pictures. I’m probably going to have another book photo shoot pretty soon. Make sure to follow my page on the sidebar.
Personal Goal: Keep Track of my Planner
I need to work on getting my life reorganized. I currently have four classes, two part-time jobs, and three organizations I’m part of at my University. I definitely need to make a few changes and get my life together.
What are your goals for February?
How has this first week been for you?
Let me know in the comments!
