For this prompt, I was thinking along the lines of bedtime stories or books that give you peace of mind. These are two books I hold dear.
This first one was the first bedtime story I ever had. As a kid, my mom would read me Bible stories until I fell asleep. Then, when I was old enough to read for myself, I would read a chapter every night before bed.
I have been in love with Rudy Francisco’s poetry ever since I first listened to “Scars/To the New Boyfriend.” His writing is just so raw and honest. I feel like I can really understand what he’s been through, even if my past experiences have been completely different.
The books I chose for this prompt were both recommended to me by some of my favorite teachers. The first one comes from my middle school English teacher, Mrs. Macon. She introduced me to so much literature during that time period.
If you missed it last week, I posted my official prompts for the February Two for Tuesday. It’s a tag that I’m trying to start for book blogging. You can join at any time, just make sure to comment here or on last week’s post and link back to me in your Two for Tuesday. It starts tomorrow!
