5 Inspiring Quotes from Wolfpack

This is going to be outside of my usual style of posts. I’ve been experimenting a lot lately and I really want your feedback. Let me know what y’all think.

As I mentioned in yesterday’s review of Wolfpack by Abby Wambach, I highlighted so much of my copy. It’s full of inspiring quotes and analogies. I really enjoyed reading Wolfpack and I highly recommend it.

Wolfpack (Book Review)

I received a signed ARC of Wolfpack at the Be the Change event hosted at my university this past Friday. If you read my interview last week, you’ll know that that’s also where I got a chance to meet Elaine Welteroth. This week has truly been remarkable.

After I finished Wolfpack, I took a few pictures for my bookstagram:

Two for Tuesday: April Flowers

Two for Tuesday is a weekly tag I host here on my blog. If you’re interested in joining, just let me know and I’ll add you to the list of participants. This week’s prompt is two books that have flowery language.

My first pick literally has a flower on the cover. You can’t get more flowery than that.

the sun and her flowers by Rupi Kaur

I got the sun and her flowers as a birthday gift a few years ago. I immediately devoured it. Poetry just has a way of connecting to my pain in ways I didn’t know possible. I haven’t gotten around to reading her first book, Milk and Honey. Hopefully, I’ll finally get to it this summer.

The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon

The Sun is Also a Star is a beautiful story. The language is very flowery at times, but completely understandable. It’s one of those books that has resonated with me ever since I finished it.

I’m surprised both of my picks for this month have sun in the title. But then again, you can’t have flowers with sunshine.

What are some of your favorite flowery books?

What are you currently reading?

My Interview With Elaine Welteroth

On Friday, April 5th, I got the opportunity to meet Elaine Welteroth and Brittany Packnett, Abby Wambach, and Glennon Doyle at the Be the Change event hosted at Florida Atlantic University. Elaine’s book More Than Enough will be out June 11, 2019 and it can be pre-ordered here. I do not have any affiliate links and this is not a sponsored post.

The first time I saw Elaine Welteroth was in my living room. I was watching an episode of Blackish where she was playing Zoey’s boss. This was long before my love affair with Grownish began. One of the things that struck out most to me was her hair. Watching a black woman in a position of power with her hair in its natural state, that meant a lot to my teenage self. Her appearance in Grownish brought about that same feeling. After hearing about her role in co-writing that episode, I knew I had to meet her for myself.

5 Shows that will Curb Grownish Season 2 Withdrawals

I think my fellow Grownish fans can all agree that Wednesdays are not the same. The whole week feels off. You may be going through some serious Grownish withdrawals, but never fear, here are five shows to binge until Grownish Season 2 comes back this summer.

Blackish

Black*ish Cast

If you started watching Grownish without ever getting into Blackish, do yourself a favor and check it out.

Let’s be honest, without Blackish, there would be no Grownish. It’s the show where we were introduced to Zoey Johnson, watched her grow into her own person, and eventually leave the nest. It’s also a great way to learn more about her brother, Junior, before his appearance on the show.
